Cowbell commissions two boreholes in the Upper East region to mark the World Water Day celebrations in Ghana

Leading powdered milk brand, Cowbell, has marked this year’s World Water Day with the commissioning of two boreholes in the Kasena Nankana district of the Upper East Region.

This adds to a total number of 22 boreholes which have been constructed under the Cowbell Borehole Project since its commencement.

The Cowbell Borehole Project is a community-support initiative under the ‘Cowbell Impacting Lives’ campaign with a core objective of providing safe and clean drinking water for vulnerable communities across the country. The project is also part of efforts by the brand to help achieve the sustainable development goals, which include clean water and sanitation.

Addressing traditional leaders and members of both communities at the sod cutting ceremony in Kurugu, Commercial Director  of PGH, Samir Sadaoui , expressed his excitement of the completion of the 22 boreholes promised by the brand.

He also assured the gathering of commitment by the brand to construct more boreholes before the end of the year. Also speaking on the theme for this year’s World Water Day, “Groundwater – making the invisible visible”, Mr Sadaoui recounted the need for all to contribute to the protection of underground water, “I would like to remind each and every one of you gathered here of the need to maintain good sanitation in your respective environments. Anything outside of this goes a long way to destroy our ground water, hence limiting access to safe drinking water.”

Paramount chief for the two beneficiary communities Naaba Henry Abawine Amenga-etego II shared his appreciation and gratitude on behalf of his community. He shared the challenges faced by his people as a result of difficulties in accessing potable water, for which reason both communities will remain forever grateful to Cowbell and world vision.
